The Unit Was Established In The Year 1989 Having Taken Over A Sick Unit From APSFC And Revived The Same With Financial Support Of SBH Ramachandrapuram.

During The Period 1990-94 The Unit Has Successfully Indigenized The Most Critical Complex Assemblies Such As Exhaust Frames, Plenum For Gas Turbines Of M/S BHEL- Ramachandrapuram As Per Specifications M/S. G.E.-USA Followed By Engine Components (27types), Cassettes (9), And Overhauling Trolleys (16) To MIG- Complex- HAL-Koraput Saving The Precious Foreign Exchange To The Tune Of Not Less Than Rs.10 – 12 Crores Annually.

Parallel During The Same Period, The Unit Also Initiated Steps To Establish The Facilities To Establishment Of Technologies For Realization Of Riveted Structures, Welded Structures, Propellant Tanks, Solid Propellant Motors, Machining Of Magnesium, Titanium, Aluminum Alloys, 15CDV6, SS,MDN-250 And Delivered The Projects To All Hardware Missile Such As AGNI,PRITHVI, AKASH, NAG, TRISUL, ASTRA And K-15.

During The Year 1995-1998, The Unit Was Also Deeply Involved In The Development Of LCA (Teja) And Delivered Most Critical Matched Dies For RADOMES, 800 And 1200 Liters Drop Tanks In Addition To Several Lay Up Tools.

The Unit Is Proud To Announce That Our Experienced Team Of Engineers And Technicians Have Successfully Developed The System Integration I.E. REACTION CONTROL SYSTEM And VELOCITY TRIMMING PACKAGE And Delivered For AGNI-I And AGNI-III. The Main Role Of The RCS & VTP Is To Monitor The Ascending, Descending And Attitude Maintenance Of The Missile During The Launching. It Is An Outstanding Achievement By The Unit For The First Time Outside The DRDO - Labs With State Of Art Technology.

By The Year 1998, The Unit Has Gone For Heavy Expansion, Balanced The Required Facilities With 20 CNC -Machines, 5-Jig Boring Machines, Light, Medium, Heavy Machine Shops To Handle Up to Dia 420mm Class Jobs, High Tech Welding Shop With Controlled Atmosphere, Heat Treatment And Plating Shops With Required Inspection Equipments.

The Unit Is Proud To Announce With Thanks To ISRO For Entering Into Long Term Contract For Development And Supply Of L-40 Structures, Satellite Separation, Strap on Separation Components, Rocket Motor For PSLV In Addition To No. Of Prestigious Sub Assemblies And Delighted To Announce With Gratitude To VSSC For Booing 80% Of Out Capacities For Next 2 Years.
